Koh Pha-Ngan (Southern Thailand)

After 6 days in Kanchanaburi we decided it was time to head south for some R&R. We took a minibus to Khao San Road in Bangkok, which in my worn out state was probably not the best place to be, as it's extremely busy, noisy, dirty and smelly!! After sitting on the curb and having a mini-breakdown because I didn't want to eat Burger King twice in one day, we checked into the first guesthouse we came to. My god it was awful! It's just for one night we told ourselves and Burger King didn't seem so bad anymore.

After a very noisy, sleepless night we checked out first thing and travelled to the other side of Bangkok to extend our visas. After a couple of hours we were at the train station ready to leave for the Islands.
A nine hour train journey took us to Chumphon where we were to spend one night before catching a ferry early the next morning.

After almost sleeping in, as I hadn't set the alarm right, we jumped out of bed 2 minutes before a minibus picked us up to take us to the ferry port. A couple of hours later we were checking into a guesthouse on the island of Koh Tao.

We don't have any photos of the six days we spent there as later on whilst in Koh Pha Ngan, my laptop died containing 2 months of photos. Anyway, it wasn't such a great place and the only reason we stayed for 6 days is because we were so tired of moving around. So after we had rested we moved on to Koh Pha Ngan, our island paradise!!

First stop was Thongsala.

Where we found an amazing English pub, that served fantastic roast dinners 7 days a week!

We also spent another night in a not so great hotel room, where the aircon was stuck on one setting. Bloody freezing!!

Not how I envisioned sleeping in Thailand!

Haad Yuan

This was the view from our bed for 10 nights over Christmas and New Year!

Where we caught some beautiful sunrises.

Haad Tien just over the hill from Haad Yuan

A storm brewing over Haad Yuan
Closing in on us!
Almost here
Sea and sky as one

Beautiful holiday weather!
Calm after the storm

Haad Khom

Here we bumped into a pig having a stroll along the beach
With a tattoo that reads 'stop thinking about bacon'!
Koh Ma and Mae Haad

My favourite dog in Thailand

Other Places around the island

The calmest sea we have seen! The two dots near the horizon are people stood in the water fishing. It was so shallow you could almost walk up to the island.

One of the things I love the most about this place is the trust and honesty!

Sri Thanu beach (which we renamed broken bone beach)

Forest in the sea

We went to a party at a waterfall in the jungle where a sign in the toilets asked us not to flush. Or more specifically, not to flush female plankers down the toilet!

After one month it was time to shed a few tears and head back up to Bangkok.
